Adrvreck Castle Ruins

Ardvreck Castle (my photo)

If you have ever visited Scotland it has more than it’s fair share of of ruined buildings from impressive castles like Ardvreck to humble crofters bothies.

Some of these have bloody tales of clan wars and revenge and some more forlorn with ‘the clearings’ and land grabbing that took place. Some are newer and tell the story of the change in the population’s habits and needs.

My Local Bothy Ruin

Whatever the reason I find these places fascinating. The stories these walls could tell of the people and their lives. The sense of history is palpable and I can visualise the outline of what was before.
