Season Change

There is a feeling in the air of late that Summer is turning to Autumn and here in Scotland that means watching the larch trees turn to orange flame, the beech trees create their multi hued show from darkest green through golden yellow and eventually to crisp conker brown. The sun sets and rises are more stunning and starts are once again visible, including if you are lucky the milky way.

I love the all the seasons and the marked changing of them brings me a sense of delight as it marks the passage of time and a natural marker to review what I have been up to, what I want to do next and set some plans, however I know that not everyone feels the same as I day and for some the loss of Summer, light and warmth create a genuine sadness.

In this blog I share ways that I hope help all of you bring some joy to the darker seasons and see them as opportunities for change.

Bring in your own light

Whether real candles are your thing or you worry about pets/children getting burnt and choose battery powered or fairy lights. They really do add a warm glow to your home and for the lazy among us you can even get ones with timers

You can even get ones that sound like a crackling fire.

Make your Home your Autumn Sanctuary

Swapping things around can make a huge difference whether you move furniture or just a few ornaments you can go a step further and buy a few select items that can breathe new life into your home.

A new piece of art can really cheer up a glum wall bringing warmth and interest as well as the Hygge feeling into your home and don’t just think of the lounge but office, bedroom, bathroom and corridors can all benefit from some art.

Hanging art has never been easier with the command hooks that stick on and remove cleanly and unless your picture is very heavy they do a really good job.

Any or all of these small changes can create your Autumn sanctuary.

What to do with those long evenings?

Why not take up an indoor activity - yoga, felting (some great starter kits for the Green Boat company, create your own pumpkin), learn the piano or maybe come and join myself and NjoyartUK on-line for some painting fun.

Whatever you choose you can do it all from the comfort of your newly created cozy Autumn home.
